In Memory of Tyler Kahle

Tyler Kahle, 19, son of Tom and Michele Kahle, was killed in an industrial accident on July 19th, 2007 while working on the construction of a gold mine in Nome, Alaska. The Canadian based Nova Gold, who owns the mine that contracted Tyler’s employer, contacted Tom and Michele about establishing a memorial for Tyler. Given the Kahle family’s long-standing tradition of involvement in all levels of baseball in the Tomahawk community, the family came back to Nova Gold with the plans for a baseball field which they thought would be a fitting memorial for Tyler, and also be a great benefit to the community. Following a generous $30,000 donation from them, plans were put in motion to begin the planning stage for the construction of the field. The project will build the ball field up to a tournament standard facility, something the City of Tomahawk has been lacking for many years.
